Practical Development with Platforms as a Service: Beyond the Basics
[presentation]Track: Solutions Track #2Localização:14:50 - 15:40Abstract:
Whether you’ve already deployed an app in the cloud or you’re about to try it for the first time, your mind may be brimming with questions like: “Should I worry about Infrastructure as a Service or just the Platform as a Service?”, “What if I need to access a database deployed behind my company's firewall?”, “Is there a way to make integration with third-party services less painful?”
In this session, we’ll answer these questions and more as we demonstrate the step-by-step process of building an application from scratch and deploying it to a PaaS. We’ll also discuss several important issues to consider when building apps for the cloud, including: identifying the attributes that make an application a good candidate for a PaaS deployment, how to avoid vendor lock-in by choosing an open source platform stack, on/off premise integration, and how to integrate cloud based services like OAuth2.0 authentication, email, and geolocation into your application. We'll build this on IBM's Bluemix PaaS.
